Auf zahlreichen Gesch\u00e4ftsreisen in Europa, Asien und in den USA ist sein Interesse f\u00fcr Gem\u00e4lde und Skulpturen gewachsen. Die Liebe zur Farbe treibt Reinhard Ernst in seiner nunmehr 40-j\u00e4hrigen Sammelt\u00e4tigkeit an. Infolgedessen ist das mre eines der wenigen Museen weltweit, das sich exklusiv der abstrakten Kunst widmet. Viele der K\u00fcnstler:innen der Sammlung Reinhard Ernst geh\u00f6ren zu den wichtigsten des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Sie haben die zentralen Str\u00f6mungen der Abstraktion entscheidend mitgepr\u00e4gt.<br \/>\nDie Schwerpunkte der Sammlung bilden abstrakte europ\u00e4ische Nachkriegskunst, abstrakte japanische Kunst sowie der amerikanische Abstrakte Expressionismus. Zahlreiche K\u00fcnstler:innengruppen, wie beispielsweise \u201ejunger westen\u201c, \u201eZen 49\u201c oder \u201eZERO\u201c aus Deutschland, aber auch europ\u00e4ische wie \u201eEl Paso\u201c und \u201eGruppo degli Otto\u201c, findet man in der Sammlung. F\u00fcr die japanische Nachkriegskunst steht die 1954 in Osaka gegr\u00fcndete \u201eGutai-Gruppe\u201c, zu der z. Eine seiner Sch\u00fclerinnen war Helen Frankenthaler, eine K\u00fcnstlerin von Weltrang, von der das mre die weltweit gr\u00f6\u00dfte Privatsammlung beherbergt. Dazu geh\u00f6rt die regelm\u00e4\u00dfige \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung des konstanten Raumklimas, die Minimierung von sch\u00e4dlichen UV-Strahlen, die korrekte Lagerung der Kunstobjekte ebenso wie die regelm\u00e4\u00dfige \u00dcberpr\u00fcfung auf Sch\u00e4dlinge.<\/p>\n<p>Der Schwerpunkt der Restaurierungsabteilung im Museum Reinhard Ernst liegt auf der Konservierung, der langfristigen Erhaltung des Zustandes der Werke. Dies auch in den Ausstellungen und im Depot. Kleinere Ma\u00dfnahmen sind dabei beispielsweise das Abstauben, die Anbringung eines R\u00fcckseitenschutzes.
