On the 6th June 2019<\/strong> the Reinhard & Sonja Ernst-Foundation received the building permit for the excavation support. Over 200 guests, including numerous representatives from politics and culture, celebrated the commencement of construction for the Museums Reinhard Ernst\u00a0on 30th August 2019.<\/p>\n

Prior to the start of excavation work for the Museum Reinhard Ernst in August 2019, there was a large parking lot<\/strong> at the site. While excavating, the construction machinery uncovered the remains of a parking garage, believed to have been constructed in 1971.<\/p>\n

However, just a few years later, the parking garage was demolished to make way for the construction of the Dresdner Bank building (now Commerzbank). A new parking garage was constructed a few meters away and, due to its distinctive fa\u00e7ade featuring tall yellow piping, became popularly known as the \u201cGiraffe Cage.\u201d<\/p>\n
