Why Japanese maple?
\n<\/strong>Japanese maple also known under its Latin name \u201cAcer palmatum\u201d is famous for its picturesque growth. Do not just take our word for it, see for yourself:<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Green, orange, yellow and in fall even vibrant red hues! This color variety is consistent with the colorful abstract exhibits in the museum. Perfectly pairing with Chillidas sculpture \u201cBuscando la luz III\u201d, \u201cthe pursuit of light III\u201d, as both Japanese maple and sculpture are striving towards sunlight.<\/p>\n

Where does the tree come from?
\n<\/strong>Sonja and Reinhard Ernst decided on a 60 years old specimen, delivered to Wiesbaden by tree nursery\u00a0Ebben<\/em>\u00a0located in the Dutch town of\u00a0Cuijk<\/em>\u00a0and planted by local company Gramenz. Currently measuring 8 meters in height with a bale diameter of 1.60 meters, our Japanese maple is projected growing up to 10 meters in height!<\/p>\n

Fun fact: Despite its name, the Japanese maple is native to central Europe!<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Why planting a tree in Winter?
\n<\/strong>In addition of taking the constructional progress into account, planting trees in the cold season is also beneficial as they sprout new roots in winter. Another sunbather is now flaunting in our patio!<\/p>\n

In the early morning hours of the 20th December a giant crane hovered once again above the Reinhard Ernst Museum. This time carrying the latest permanent addition to the patio, our Japanese maple!
