As part of the exhibition “Helen Frankenthaler: Move and Make,” Lise Motherwell, stepdaughter of Helen Frankenthaler and chair of the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, gave a lecture at the Museum Reinhard Ernst on September 28, 2025.
Lise Motherwell recounted how Frankenthaler’s curiosity and determination enabled her to discover new methods and materials for her art. Using interviews, anecdotes, and her own childhood memories, Motherwell portrayed the artist as the multifaceted figure she was both at home and in the studio.
