Art & Kisses

A magical moment in an artful setting: your wedding ceremony with a subsequent reception takes place in the evening, after the museum’s regular opening hours. In the first floor, in front of the monumental bronze sculpture Pair by Sir Tony Cragg, you exchange your vows. At this time, the exhibition rooms are closed. The spaces on the bridge, in front of the large windows overlooking the richly decorated historic buildings of Wilhelmstraße, are available to you and your guests six evenings a week (except Wednesdays) from 6:30–9:30 PM—a truly unique opportunity. Catering is provided by rue1 by Gollner’s, and sparkling wine is served from VAUX.

Love is Sweet

Celebrate your special moment in the Sugar Cube: surrounded by elegant architecture and captivating works of art, you toast your vows before Sir Tony Cragg’s sculpture Pair and then indulge with your loved ones at the ground-floor bar with a delicious tiered dessert stand. Petit fours and an exquisite wedding cake from the traditional Café Blum provide a sweet and memorable finale. Catering is handled by rue1 by Gollner’s, with sparkling wine from VAUX.

This package is available on Saturday and Sunday mornings, before the museum opens to the public. On weekdays, your ceremony can take place from 6:30 PM. The exhibition rooms remain closed, and an optional guided tour can be booked for your group.

LOCATION

Get Married in the Sugar Cube

The Museum Reinhard Ernst was designed by Japanese Pritzker Prize–winner Fumihiko Maki (1929–2024). Its bold architecture combines striking design with a welcoming, intimate atmosphere. Your ceremony takes place in front of the bronze sculpture Pair—get ready for the longest wedding procession!

You can choose the location for your reception: either by the Pair sculpture on the first floor, overlooking Wilhelmstraße, or at our sparkling wine bar on the ground floor, with views of the atrium and Eduardo Chillida’s sculpture Buscando la Luz III. For your wedding celebration, the timelessly elegant Maki Forum is available to book.

Any Questions?

Do we have to use the in-house caterer?

For the “Art & Kisses” and “Love is Sweet” packages, catering by rue1 by Gollner’s is included. With the “A Complete Work of Art” package, you are free to choose your own caterer—catering is not included.

Can we extend our time if needed?

You have three hours for your ceremony and the following reception. If you’d like to extend the time and your celebration runs a little longer, that’s no problem—additional costs may apply. Just get in touch with us, and we’ll find a solution that works for you!

Is it possible to have our ceremony in front of Pair while the museum is open?

Unfortunately, ceremonies in front of the Pair sculpture are not available during the museum’s regular opening hours.

What is the seating capacity in front of the Pair sculpture?

Up to 60 guests can be seated in front of the Pair sculpture. If you are interested in the “A Complete Work of Art” package, the ceremony in front of Pair can accommodate 60 guests, and up to 100 guests can be hosted in the hall for the celebration.

Is it possible to arrange a guided tour for my guests?

Yes, that’s possible. We would be happy to offer an exclusive guided tour for you and your guests. Just get in touch with us!

Are live musicians allowed to perform?

Of course—no wedding is complete without a cappella singing, romantic violins, or smooth saxophone sounds. However, a full live band or symphony orchestra would exceed the space’s capacity. Get in touch with us!

Is there a cloakroom for the bride and groom?

Yes, cloakrooms for the bride and groom are available on the ground floor, but they need to be booked separately. Guest cloakrooms are located in the basement. Schedule a consultation with us, and we’ll show you all the spaces.

Is it possible to do a photo session after the ceremony?

Can we use confetti, rice, or flower petals inside the museum?

For conservation reasons and to protect the works of art, throwing confetti, rice, or flower petals is unfortunately not allowed.
