Two years ago, the Museum Reinhard Ernst opened its doors — creating, for you and together with you, a new place for international abstract art in the heart of Wiesbaden. Since then, we have experienced countless encounters with art: surprising, inspiring, and sometimes deeply personal moments of discovery.
The architecture of our museum alone continues to inspire many people time and again. Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, the museum building has added a new cultural meeting place to Wiesbaden — one that has gained international recognition. Open and filled with natural light, the building is entirely dedicated to art and its visitors.
What delights us most are the many moments of discovery our visitors experience here — the moments when someone says:
“I didn’t know these artists before. This is the first time I’m hearing about them here!”
These kinds of discoveries are what bring art to life. A current example is our special exhibition dedicated to the Austrian artist Wolfgang Hollegha. Many of our visitors encounter his work for the very first time here at the Reinhard Ernst Museum — discovering one of the most important representatives of abstract painting in Austria. The fact that Hollegha is now being presented in Germany for the very first time in a solo exhibition makes this encounter even more special.
And in the months ahead, the museum will continue to be a place of new perspectives: in November, our next exhibition, Couleur Vivante, will open — an exhibition full of color, energy, and groundbreaking artistic positions.
On the occasion of our second anniversary, there is one thing above all that we would like to say: thank you! Thank you to all the visitors who have filled the Reinhard Ernst Museum with life, curiosity, and enthusiasm over the past two years. To those who return regularly — whether for our exhibitions or our events. To those who share their experiences at the museum with us.
